The owner, Russell Stevens Price, received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from North Carolina Central University in 1971. After a short try in the National Football League with the Houston Oilers and Miami Dolphins, Mr. Price started working at the Atomic Energy Commission as an accountant specializing is the preparation of accounting procedures. In 1975, he moved to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as the Chief, of the General Ledger Section with responsibility of maintaining the accounting system. In 1976, Mr. Price received his Master of Business Administration from the American University. In 1980, Mr. Price moved to the Bureau of the Census as Chief of the General Accounting Branch in the Finance Division where he had responsibility for the general ledger and the payroll for the entire Bureau. In 1988, he moved to the Administrative Services Division as the Chief of the Property, Records, and Supply Branch. There, Mr. Price had responsibility for eleven (11) different functions and 68 persons with pay grades from wage grade 2 to GS-13s. These functions included property management, records management, the motor pool, the labor unit, the warehouse, shipping and receiving, and the supply room. In 1992, he moved to the Governments Division where he was responsible for collecting financial data from all the various government entities across the United States. He retired from the government in 2008.
Mr. Price passed the certified public accountants exam in 1994 and was licensed. He has maintained his license continuously since that time. He was the treasurer of his church from 1972 to 1991. During that time, Mr. Price installed and maintained the accounting system that the church continues to use. He maintained accurate records that was confirmed via audits by outside certified public accountants hired by the church. He was well respected by the members and leadership during his tenure.
NEW BEGINNINGS:
North East Accounting and Tax Service, Inc. (NEATS) was formed in November of 1989 in the
District of Columbia. We were located at 3005 Bladensburg Road, N.E. in Washington, DC. Our goal was to provide professional accounting and tax services to individuals, not–for–profit corporations, small businesses, and anyone in need of our services. Through advertisements on television, radio, flyers, and word of mouth, our business grew from our circle of friends, family members, and co-workers to the current client base that stretches across the world.
CURRENTLY:
In 2002, NEATS relocated to its current offices at 601 Eastern Avenue, Suite 101, Fairmount Heights, Maryland 20743. With our expanded staff, we offer accounting system establishment, setup, and maintenance for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. We incorporate profit and not-for-profit small businesses in all fifty states. NEATS provides personal financial counseling, including family budgeting. We provide investment counseling for individuals and corporations. We maintain our accounting and tax programs on a current basis. Through the professional continuing education program for certified public accountants, our staff is current on the laws and regulations that govern the tax and accounting industry. We assist our clients with completing college financing forms. Payroll services are provided for small businesses. We prepare responses for our clients to local, state, and federal taxing authorities. We act as agents for our clients in matters involving taxes before local, state, and federal agencies. NEATS conducts and participates in seminars and meetings to discuss current accounting and tax matters and to aid organizations in conducting their financial activities in compliance with the various State, local, and Federal requirements. We specialize in the tax returns of law enforcement, teachers, fireman, doctors, real estate, and other professionals. Our rates are reasonable and we work with clients to provide the most value for the costs. We are open all year and promise to be responsive to the needs of our clients.
